A One of a Kind, Very Unique Museum, Highly Praised by our Visitors
The Museum and its displays were constructed by the 390th Bomb Group Veterans of World War II.
A very unique, one of a kind Museum with its own restored B-17. The Museum is located on grounds of the Pima Air and Space Museum as a museum within a museum. There is no admittance fee even though we receive no financial support from our PASM host
Some of Andy's major contributions to the Museum

Mission Map
The Mission Map is a major orientation display for the 390th BG and the other Eighth Air Force groups. Presented information includes: the 301 combat missions and locations of the targets of 390th BG, Location and losses of all 8th AF groups, stats of casualties for the 8th AF as compared to other major units. A data board also details the leaders and commanders for each 390th mission, the combat losses and the credited enemy fighters by the Group.

Munster Mission
The Munster mission of 10 October 1943 is on display. The mission was notable for the 390th Bomb Group for the record number of enemy fighters shot down by any bomber or fighter group. The 390th also suffered its highest percentage loss of any of its 301 missions at a loss of eight B-17s out of 18 on the mission.
The display shows the crews, the serial numbers and names of the participating bombers and also those credited with enemy fight
Berlin
Diorama
A diorama is on display of a mission to a ball bearing plant at Erkner on the edge of Berlin. This mission severely reduced the manufacturing capability of the German industrial complex.
All participating bombers are shown with their formation position and identification. Crew make up is also displayed.
The group lost 3 bombers on this mission.
The main purpose of the display is to show the arrangement of a typical group formation and to present the Berlin mission story, orated with sound effects from B-17 veterans.

13th Combat Wing Flag Case
The flag case contains the American flag, the 390th Group flag with its citations, the 100th Group flag and the 95th Group flag with its citations
Ball Turret Gunner Display

Nose Art - Original Aircraft

The tops of our 12 foot high walls are lined with nose art surrounding the main exhibit hangar. The North and East walls contain 23 of those that were available from the 390th Groups 37 original aircraft.
The individual displays were from original black and white photographs that were colorized and printed to a 4 ft by 4 ft size with the number of missions for each aircraft and its demise added. Only one of the original 37 survived to return to the US.
Nose Art - South and West walls

The South and West wall tops carry the Nose Arts of the remaining, non-original, aircraft. The Group had approximately 225 replacements/enforcements with 41 of these having available nose art.
These are also printed in 4 ft. by 4 ft. size with each one carrying the aircraft's serial number, the name, the number of missions, the casualties throughout the aircrafts missions and the final demise.
